TravelCo is a newly established travel and tour operating company based in Port Alfred, with an initial focus of attracting more tourists to the Eastern Cape.

Rosie Taverner, from Travel Co, says the company can offer a range of services, including destination management. TravelCo is able to provide accommodation and activity packages, golf tours, trips to game reserves, as well as specialist tours such as hiking. Additional services include conference organising, weddings, and team-building events.

While the tour operator hopes to attract a combination of both international tourists and locals, much of the focus will be on the international market. TravelCo is also in the process of appointing overseas representation.

Future plans for the company include expansion into other regional destinations. Taverner said the company soon hoped to offer tours such as gorilla trekking in Rwanda, houseboats in Zimbabwe, and itineraries in Zambia.
