The World Economic Forum, in partnership with mixed-use property development company Devonbosch, has rolled out over 640 kilometres of trails linking the popular Winelands destinations of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.
Developed during the successful first phase of the SA Trails Network initiative, the trails have been used regularly by hiking parties, horse riders and cyclists, as well as pedestrian commuters, school-goers and runners.
There are further plans to connect the trails to the Bottelary Conservancy in Stellenbosch, which offers cyclists access to trails on private working wine farms.
The Cape Winelands District Municipality highlighted the benefits of these new trails, explaining in a statement that “this creates safe commuter passages for commuters, residents and tourists”.
