The Nexus Hotel in Addis Ababa has completed an ETB410 million (€12.9m) expansion that includes 85 new rooms, taking the total to 151.
The new rooms are accommodated in a new building, adjacent to the original hotel in the Jackros suburb of the capital city. The eight-storey building and houses 85 rooms, five meeting halls with capacity for 450 people, a bar, restaurant, gym, spa, outdoor swimming pool and parking for 70 vehicles.
The existing hotel has a four-star rating from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Zenawi Mefin, hotel consultant and Vice President of the Addis Ababa Hotel Owners and Sectoral Association, told the Addis Fortune: “After the expansion, we are expecting a five-star rating.”
Dawit G. Tsadik, Nexus Managing Director, said the hotel was working toward meeting international standards. “We are working on uplifting our human capital and devising policies for standard operating procedures.”
In addition to local hotel brands, the city is home to six major international hotel brands and this is expected to grow.
