This week’s video comes from the Manyoni Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal, where Dithlong (nicknamed Ditsi), the Temminck’s pangolin, is showing off her incredible swimming skills to the world.
Ditsi’s humorous antics are also drawing attention to the serious plight of the pangolin. Pangolins are the world’s most trafficked mammal, with a shocking 2.7 million killed by poachers every year for their scales.
Thankfully, Ditsi was saved from this fate, having been rescued from illegal traffickers during a sting operation. She is making a strong recovery at Manyoni, and is almost ready to be released back into the wild when she is fully rehabilitated.
