Marriott International has appointed Clinton Arnot as Director, Distribution Strategy Middle East and Africa, effective October 1.
Arnot was Head of Online Distribution for Protea Hotels for the past seven years. He has a diploma in Hotel Management, Marketing, from City & Guilds.
Neal Jones, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Marriott International Middle East and Africa, says: “The new role involves taking responsibility for Marriott’s overall global distribution strategy for the Middle East and Africa, with an emphasis on the B2B segments. This will entail developing close relationships with regional stakeholders and working to transform and modernise the systems used by traditional and offline wholesalers as well as identifying technology and operational opportunities and providing guidance and localised education.”
Dr Mohanjeet Brar has been appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to the Kenya Tourism Board as a Director with immediate effect.
Brar will represent the tourism private sector as an exponent of responsible tourism which supports conservation and community participation. He has been East African Director for Atta for the last five years.
"I believe Kenya has among the greatest tourism potential in the world and one that can be done in a sustainable manner that protects habitats, supports local communities, brings massive economic benefits to the country, increased employment and profits for well-run tourism companies. I'm honoured by this appointment by our President and look forward to input and support from our Atta members in Kenya and other countries as we work together to improve and grow the Kenyan tourism industry," said Brar.
Taj Cape Town, a luxury five-star hotel, has appointed Guillaume Bester as its new Revenue Manager, effective October.
Bester has worked for several high-profile, luxury establishments and held the position of Revenue Manager for three years at Ellerman House from 2012, successfully overseeing overall revenue growth, as well as all systems and business strategies.
“With Guillaume’s extensive knowledge of revenue management and a passion for optimising resources, he is sure to be a valuable asset to our team. We are confident that his expertise will drive profitability for The Taj in terms of leadership, total revenue management and convergence,” says Willie Williams, Director of Sales and Marketing.

Michelle Bregger has been appointed new GM of Tsogo Sun Riverside Sun. She was previously Assistant GM of the Midgard Country Estate and GM of the Mokuti Etosha Lodge, both in Namibia. She holds a diploma in hospitality from the American Hotel and Motel Association.
Mike Uphof has been appointed Operations Director for the northeastern region for Tsogo Sun. Mike was previously director of operations for the inland region at Tsogo Sun and was hospitality manager at Montecasino prior to that.
