This week’s pic of the week features the newest members of the pride of lions at Pumba Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.
The reserve has a free-roaming pride of white lions that raised four cubs this year, away from the eyes of tourists. At one year old, the cubs are getting stronger and testing more limits.
Their mother is the first white lion to be born in the wild in South Africa for about 40 years, and is about eight-and-a-half years old.
According to staff at Pumba, the pride is showing unique dynamics, with the previous dominant male, who is 15, being allowed back into the pride by his seven-year-old successor. “Never before have we seen the grandfather, grandchildren and the dominant male together,” read a statement from the game reserve.
