The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recently launched a tree planting campaign in Uganda dubbed ‘Pet a Tree’. The campaign aims to mobilise Ugandans to not just plant trees but also to take care of and nurture them as pets.
The launch, which took place at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, was attended by the State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Bahinduka Mugarra Martin.
According to Bismark Amumpiire, Co-ordinator of Africa Tourism and Environment Initiative, the campaign will instil a culture of planting trees as a noble cause and raise awareness of the importance of planting and saving trees for the environment.
