The Afrikaans word for leopard is ‘luiperd’, which translates to ‘lazy horse’. In this instance lazy couldn’t be a better description.
This week’s pic was sent to us by amateur photographer, Samantha Durand, who captured the leopard lounging near Biyamiti Bushveld Camp in January this year. “She is the resident leopard there and had two sub-adult cubs. We were heading back to camp and there she was on a rock.”
If you’ve captured the wildlife, people or scenery of southern and East Africa through your camera lens, we want to see your pictures! Submit photos to editor@tourismupdate.co.za and your photo could be our next pic of the week.
