Uganda Airlines has revealed a network expansion plan that includes the launch of services to London, Saudi Arabia and China, along with intra-Africa routes to Cape Town, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, by mid-2025.
Adedayo Olawuyi, CCO of Uganda Airlines, highlighted the route expansion targets at a travel agents forum in Johannesburg on October 30.
“We will be expanding a lot more as we continue to grow, but will be starting these destinations in particular within the next six months, before the end of our financial year in July of 2025.”
He added that the national carrier’s much-anticipated London Gatwick flights would start in the first quarter of next year. The airline has reportedly secured four weekly slots between Entebbe and London.
“An announcement will be made very soon as to the exact launch and schedules of this service,” said Olawuyi.
The other prioritised routes include Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Guangzhou in China, Khartoum in Sudan and Goma in the DRC.
The carrier’s current international routes include Dubai and Mumbai, and 14 African cities.
In line with its fleet expansion, the airline will soon receive four new Airbus A320s and two Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and has enhanced its partnerships with major GDSs, Amadeus, Travelport and Sabre.
