The White Sands Resort and Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam has reopened, following a fire last year that claimed part of the hotel.
The resort’s Mchanga Restaurant was rebuilt, as well as an upgraded gym and a new café.
The revamped restaurant has a menu created by Chef Sanjay Nayak. It overlooks the Indian Ocean and seats 300 people.
The gym, which also offers views of the ocean, features new equipment, as well as male and female saunas for post-workout relaxation.
“In every tragedy there is an opportunity waiting to be seized,” says Veer Patel, Pearlsun Hotels & Resorts Director. “Our guests are always at the top of our mind. That is why we took the decision to do more than simply just rebuild. We wanted to breathe fresh life into the hotel and provide an enhanced product for our corporate, incentive and leisure clients.”
White Sands is 25km from Julius Nyerere International Airport and 10km from Mlimani Exhibition Centre. It offers a choice of 15 meeting and conference rooms – equipped with high-speed WiFi and modern conferencing technology – that can host up to 300 delegates.
“We are extremely grateful to our guests for their support during the time these areas were closed for the renovation,” says Patel. “It’s always a challenge to juggle smooth operations during a time of transition and we can’t wait to welcome patrons, both new and old, to experience our improved areas.”
