The COVID-19 virus presents us with an unprecedented set of circumstances that are changing on a day-to-day basis. As we deal with a rapidly changing situation we as SA Tourism are in daily discussions with The Minister of Tourism regarding the Africa Travel INDABA, scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 May 2020, as well as other business events, including the impact of the virus on the sector.
There is a Special Cabinet meeting scheduled for this coming weekend, where a national approach to mitigate and contain the spread will be discussed. We will take our lead from the outcomes of this meeting to ensure that we support the measures outlined by the government to protect our citizens and visitors.
Sisa Ntshona, CEO of SA Tourism says: “We know the importance of Africa’s Travel INDABA to our partners in the travel industry and commit to providing timeous updates. In all instances, we place the value of human life and the long-term credibility of our destination brand at the forefront of our considerations regarding the travel and tourism industry.”
