SAA will increase frequencies between Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) via Accra’s Kotoka International Airport (ACC) to five flights a week, starting April 2.

The flight, which has operated since 2015, takes the airline’s West Africa-Washington operations to seven flights a week, including the twice-weekly service from Dakar.

SAA’s codeshare with United Airlines gives passengers easy access to more than 100 cities across the US and Canada via IAD.

The IAD-ACC route will be operated by an Airbus A330-200 and A330-300. The A330-200 offers 36 flat-bed seats in business class and 186 seats in economy class while the larger A330-300 offers 46 seats in business class and 203 in economy.

The new flight schedule is as follows:

• On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays flight SA 209 will depart Johannesburg at 18h36, arriving at Accra at 22h35, departing Accra at 23h35 and arriving at Washington at 06h25 the following morning.
• On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays flight SA 210 will depart Washington at 17h40, arriving in Accra at 08h00 the following morning, departing Accra at 09h00 and arriving in Johannesburg at 16h45.

SAA has also entered into a codeshare with Africa World Airlines which allows passengers easy connection to other destinations in West Africa, including Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria, Monrovia in Liberia and Freetown in Sierra Leone.
