South African Airways has reached a settlement agreement with the Competition Commission, according to a report by Busineslive.
The Competition Tribunal confirmed on June 6 that a settlement had been reached between SAA and the Competition Commission.
The airline has agreed to pay an administrative penalty of R18,8 million for fixing fuel rates and other surcharges on the transport of cargo routes to and from South Africa.
This brings to an end a suite of complaints initiated by the Commission against the national carrier.
According to the report, SAA had also undertaken to co-operate with the commission in any on-going investigation and prosecution of the remaining respondents in the suite of complaints.
