SAA has announced the the introduction of additional flights between Johannesburg and Mumbai following increased demand on this “very popular” route.
Effective June 16 the airline will be offering five flights per week between the two cities, which is one flight per week more than currently on offer. The additional flight is subject to government approval.
In addition, SAA will be introducing a bigger aircraft on selected days in order to accommodate the additional demand. The airline is currently using an A330-200, offering 36 seats in business class and 186 in economy class.
The airline hopes to be adding even further flights on this route in the near future as travel between South Africa and India has recently shown noticeable growth.
“These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to the Indian market, which we will continue to serve and grow in line with customer demand,” says Theunis Potgieter, SAA general manager commercial.
As of June 16, the schedule will operate as follows:
Flights will depart Johannesburg on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11h30; arriving in Mumbai at 00h35 the following day. The additional flight will operate on Saturdays.
The return service will depart Mumbai at 02h35, arriving in Johannesburg at 07h55 on the same day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The additional flight will operate on Sundays.
