SATIB Insurance Brokers, specialising in insurance for the tourism and leisure sector, has expanded its SATIBGo service for destination management companies (DMCs) – this removes the burden of sales or administrative processes by providing travel protection for DMC clients at the point of booking.
In 2023, SATIBGo was unveiled as an innovative embedded travel insurance option, exclusively for DMCs in South Africa. On August 13 this year, the elective option was launched to make the insurance process easier for all DMCs across the country.
SATIB Business Development Head André du Toit explained the reasoning behind this new upgrade: “We recognised a pressing need in the market for a flexible, comprehensive solution that DMCs could offer their clients. While our embedded insurance has been successful, we understood that not all operators want to be directly involved in the insurance process. This elective option gives DMCs the ability to provide top-tier protection without adding complexity to their operations or taking on additional liability”.
At US$10 per day, the insurance covers a broad range of African travel experiences, including many adventure activities that typical policies might overlook. SATIB’s understanding of the continent’s unique challenges – from remote locations to diverse wildlife encounters – has inspired this new insurance feature.
“SATIBGo empowers DMCs to provide their clients with robust, relevant protection, ensuring they can fully immerse themselves in the African experience without worrying about potential risks or inadequate coverage,” said du Toit.
