Slangkop Tented Camp near Cape Town will close temporarily until the end of February, following a spate of crimes over recent months, according to a statement from Table Mountain National Park.
“We have experienced a number of crime incidents in the camp in recent months and have decided that we can no longer offer guests a secure environment in which to overnight. We will be temporarily closing Slangkop Tented Camp to investigate if additional crime mitigation measures would improve the security on site,” said Saskia Marlowe, Hospitality Services, Film and Events Manager of the park.
Guests who have bookings during the closure period have been notified, with various alternative options offered to them in the form of a refund or a client credit holding account with SANParks.
“The park has apologised for the inconvenience caused to guests and would like to emphasise that the decision for closure was not made lightly, but made in the interest of guests,” said Marlowe.
