Sun International has announced that Sun City’s Valley of the Waves, in the North West province of South Africa, will close for annual maintenance.
Sun International previously announced the water park would reopen on June 22, however the reopening has changed to June 26. The Chimp & Zee Rope Adventure Park, located above the Valley of the Waves, will also close during this period.
“The Valley of the Waves closes for routine maintenance every winter so as to ensure that our water park remains in pristine condition and that our rides are of a world-class standard. Maintenance is carried out in winter when holidaymakers are less inclined to swim, so that we can minimise inconvenience to our guests,” says Thapelo Modise, Marketing Manager at Sun City.
Guests are urged to make use of the resort’s various other offerings, including golf on two world-class golf courses, activities such as Drift Trikes, hovercrafts, 4x4 quad challenges at Adrenalin Extreme, game drives and guided bush walks at the nearby Pilansberg National Park, as well as the recently launched Bike Park, a multi-wheel, asphalt pump track for bikes and skateboards. In addition, there are 30 restaurants, lounges and bars to explore at Sun City.
