The Khelekhele Hiking Trails in the Ngwempisi Wilderness Area of Swaziland have been renovated, re-launched and handed over to the Velezizweni community in Mankayane.
The trails were handed over by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Jabulani Mabuza, during a ceremony at Velezizweni Primary School.
"We call upon the community to be enterprising, in as far as providing other value-added services, which may include horse riding and donkey-pulled cart travels to the site, among others. Swazis are keen to visit spectacular sites like this one, hence the community should be able to draw significant value from this project," said Mabuza.
Swaziland Tourism Authority CEO, Eric Maseko, said: "We found Khelekhele full of potential and worth giving another chance to. We, therefore, urge community members to value such sites as they could transform your micro economy.”
The 33km trails in Ngwempisi give guests the opportunity to see numerous birds, flora and geology.
