Angola’s national airline, TAAG, has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, marking the start of its fleet renewal plan. The aircraft, which arrived in Luanda on January 29, is the first of four 787-9s acquired on a lease basis.
The Boeing 787-9 has capacity for 313 passengers (16 in business class and 297 in economy and premium economy classes). The aircraft is designed for fuel efficiency, reduced noise levels and lower emissions. It will enhance TAAG’s intercontinental connectivity and operational capacity.
A presentation ceremony at Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport welcomed institutional guests, diplomatic representatives and aviation industry stakeholders.
The acquisition displays TAAG’s new branding, which aims to ensure the airline’s intercontinental connections, bring greater versatility and availability of aircraft to TAAG’s operation and respond to the dynamics of traffic growth and demand indicators from passengers and customers.
TAAG is also celebrating the country’s 50th anniversary of independence by displaying a memorable logo on the new aircraft registered as D2-TEQ and named “Namibe”.
