Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel has commenced phased refurbishment of its guest rooms with work expected to be completed by early 2026. The hotel remains fully operational with all public areas, dining venues and wellness facilities accessible to guests throughout the renovation.
The work will be carried out in two phases. The left wing is scheduled for completion by July when work will begin on the right wing. To minimise disruption, construction is limited to 10h00-16h00 daily.
According to Serena Hotels Africa CEO Ashish Sharma, the renovation follows guest feedback and aims to enhance the hotel’s accommodation standards. Plans to renovate the rooms were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the project has since resumed with an investment of TSh13.2 billion (£3.96 million).
“When we started renovations, this hotel was tired,” Sharma acknowledged. “Now, we are fully committed to completing all 245 rooms by December or early January 2026.”
