Lufthansa’s Munich-Cape Town flight, a state-of-the-art Airbus A350, touched down at 06h00 on Monday, November 1.
The aircraft was welcomed with the traditional water arch salute as it taxied on the apron.
It was a heart-warming sight for the inbound tourism industry, signalling the airline group’s commitment to the Cape Town market for this important 2021/2022 season.
The Munich-Cape Town flights will operate three times a week, increasing to five flights a week from the end of November.
This is in addition to the Frankfurt-Cape Town flights, operating five times a week throughout the European winter/South African summer season.
Another member of the LG Group, Swiss-based leisure airline, Edelweiss, has also resumed its Cape Town-Zurich seasonal service with two flights a week.
The seasonal timetables will run until the last weekend in March.
