Tuludi, a camp in the 200 000-ha Khwai Private Reserve of the northern Okavango, was recently opened by Natural Selection, its 10th camp in Botswana. Its appearance is distinctive, comprising seven ‘tree-house-esque’ tents with expansive views over the floodplain.
At 60sqm, each tent has king size or twin beds, lounge area and dressing room. Chandeliers of thorn and jacaranda hang from the roofs. Each unit has a desk with hanging chair, private plunge pool and outdoor shower and bath. An unusual feature is a treetop library set in the overhanging natural canopy.
The camp overlooks a natural wetland that hosts a steady flow of game drinking on its doorstep, year-round. Its eco-system includes both savannah and floodplain, resulting in an impressive variety of animals. In the vicinity is a resident leopard family which is monitored by the reserve in partnership with the Botswana Predator Conservation Trust, and a hippo pod. Tuludi contributes to a number of community and conservation projects in the Khwai Reserve.
