A Uganda Airlines direct flight between London and Entebbe is expected to commence before the end of the year, the Ugandan High Commission in London has announced.
The Commission posted on social media that a team from Uganda Airlines – led by CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki – was in the UK from June 11-15 for meetings with UK aviation authorities, the business community and the Ugandan diaspora, in preparation for the upcoming of the direct flights, “expected by end of 2024”.
If the flight comes to fruition, it would be the only direct service between the UK and Uganda’s largest airports, providing a significant boost to arrivals.
The airline initially secured slots at London Heathrow in December 2020 and February 2021, planning to begin flights at the end of March 2021, but this date has been pushed back several times since.
The airline also held discussions with Dolar Popat, Head of Partnerships at British Airways, regarding a possible interline agreement.
