South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced the start of the 2024 wildflower season in West Coast National Park (WCNP).
The Postberg section of WCNP is open from August 1 to September 30, offering an opportunity to view the seasonal blooms.
Food trucks are currently available in the Geelbek precinct, Tsaarsbank, and Preekstoel areas of the park while the Geelbek Restaurant is undergoing maintenance.
The gate times for Postberg are from 09h00 to 17h00, with the last entry at 16h30. For the general park area, the gate times are from 07h00 to 18h00 in August, with the last entry at 17h30, and from 07h00 to 19h00 in September, with the last entry at 18h30.
The Spring Flowers Guide, developed by the West Coast Region SANParks Honorary Rangers, can be purchased at the Postberg entry gate. The guide enriches visitors' experiences in the WCNP during flower season, by helping them identify and learn about the diverse wildflowers.
The Honorary Rangers have also launched a new West Coast Birding Booklet and a children's Adventure with Captain Gannet bingo booklet. These are available at Geelbek.
“We invite everyone to experience the breathtaking beauty of the park’s wildflowers and take advantage of the available amenities. For more details and updates, please visit the West Coast National Park’s official website, and social media page or contact the park’s Visitor Services,” said JP Louw, SANParks Head of Communications.
