The Wilder Group has announced the opening of its newest lodge, the River Camp in Laikipia, located inside the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. This small and intimate camp is located deep within the wilderness zone and boasts spectacular views of Mount Kenya, making it an ideal location for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
The River Camp is designed to offer a unique and unforgettable experience to its guests. The camp features six ensuite guest tents and two family suites, each elegantly furnished with all the necessary amenities to make guests’ stay comfortable and enjoyable. The tents are spacious and well-appointed, providing a luxurious and tranquil atmosphere to relax in. The family suites are ideal for those travelling with children (above 8 years) or larger groups, offering ample space and privacy for all.
One of the standout features of the River Camp is its prime location in the heart of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The conservancy is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), making it an ideal destination for safari enthusiasts. Guests can embark on a guided game drive through the vast wilderness and witness the incredible diversity of flora and fauna in the area. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is also home to the largest Black rhinoceros sanctuary in East Africa, providing guests with the opportunity to witness these magnificent animals up close.
In addition to wildlife viewing, guests at the River Camp can also enjoy a range of other activities. The camp offers guided walks, birdwatching, and even night drives. For those seeking a more relaxing experience, the camp features a swimming pool (opening August 2024) and a lounge area where guests can unwind and take in the stunning views.
The River Camp also prides itself on its commitment to sustainability and conservation. The camp uses solar power for all its energy needs, and all waste is carefully managed and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. The camp also works closely with the local community to support conservation initiatives and provide employment opportunities.
