International poker players will descend on Johannesburg for the seventh World Poker Tour (WPT) Emperors Palace Poker Classic from October 13-22.
Kayla Beytel, Marketing Manager of Queen-Ten and WPT South Africa, said they were expecting around 80 international players from Africa, the US and Canada.
“Some of the international players use the trip as a chance to explore South Africa. They visit wildlife sanctuaries, lodges and enjoy cultural tours. A trip to Cape Town would also be on the itinerary.”
Beytel said the players would stay for about four weeks, two weeks at the poker tournament and two weeks to explore the wildlife and culture of South Africa.
“This will be the seventh consecutive year that Emperors Palace, The Home of Poker, will host the WPT Poker Series, emphasising our reputation as a premier venue for high-stakes luxury gaming tournaments recognised on the global stage,” said Bob Yearham, Peermont COO of Gaming.
