Volker Heiden has been appointed the new Vice President (VP) of Protea Hotels by Marriott, Mariott International, Middle East and Africa.

Heiden will move to Cape Town to fulfil his new role. He is the former regional VP Finance for Caribbean and Latin America. Heiden started his career with Hyatt before joining Marriott in 1997. “It is exciting for me to take over the operations of such a significant hospitality brand on the Africa continent,” he says. Strong development growth plans, including 65 new hotels, are in the pipeline, he added.

Satsa Western Cape has appointed a new 2017-2018 committee: Illana Clayton from TSC Group has been appointed Chairperson of Satsa Western Cape. The new committee members are Collin Thaver from Southern Africa 360, Kirsten Manning from Grant Thornton, Janet Pillay from MLT Corp, Rafik Romaney from Tripos Travel, Nathier Fakier from Satib.
