Hemingways Watamu in Watamu, Kenya, has reopened after an 18-month, €9.7 million refurbishment.
The resort now comprises 39 deluxe guestrooms – 26 Ocean Rooms and 13 Deluxe Ocean Rooms – all with sea views, en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and WiFi.
Changes at the property include the Hemingway Bar, which now opens to the view and sea breezes, and a new botanical swimming pool alongside the new spa and modern gym.
Hemingways Collection Group Operations Director, Ross Evans, said with the relaunch of the resort, the Hemingways Collection intended to position the property as a strong competitor to luxury hotels in Zanzibar and the Indian Ocean islands and was aiming to attract international tourists and domestic travellers to the Kenyan coast.
