The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) featured the destination in the ‘Movement’ webinar hosted by the Black Travel Summit on October 17 and 18.

STB partnered with American travel experts ‘Travel Moor Often’ to promote the destination at the event, which focused on showcasing black travel industry professionals.

The event is part of the Black Travel Summit’s year-round schedule and was held in collaboration with and in support of Dream Defenders, an American organisation fighting for racial and social justice.  

The STB’s Regional Director for Africa and the Americas, David Germain, was one of the event’s 26 key speakers who, over the two-day event, discussed black representation in the travel industry; the importance of the movement for black lives; and how to effectively support black-owned businesses.

The Seychelles also showcased its Creole culture through a traditional ‘Kanmtole’ dance included in its presentation.

The event presented the Seychelles with an opportunity to attract travellers from the black travel community and to interact with travel experts from the US.

“We are honoured to be a part of an event celebrating the African diaspora, giving us a chance to pay tribute to this part of our heritage, which created the melting pot which we now boast to visitors who come to our shores,” said STB Chief Executive, Sherin Francis.
