Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch will start construction on May 29 of two new conference venues and a new executive suite, adding to its existing conference offering.
“When our new additional conference areas are complete, we will have 1 500sqm of conference and exhibition space, making us the largest conference and exhibition facility in the Winelands, and this excludes our public spaces,” said GM, Deleur Stander.
The hotel currently offers seven conference venues, four executive suites and 176 apartment-style rooms. With the completion of this project in September, there will be an additional 450sqm of meeting and exhibition space, an additional executive suite (bringing the total number of suites to five) as well as new bathroom facilities.
The Cultivar Restaurant is also being redesigned and refurbished.
To help achieve its eco-friendly policy, the hotel will also install 489 solar panels on the extended roof and carports.
During the construction period, the conference facilities at the hotel will be closed, but rooms and Die Wingerd restaurant will operate as usual.
