Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific – which recently resumed direct flights between South Africa and Hong Kong – has appointed Johannesburg-based Shanna Docherty as Regional Head of Trade Sales for the Middle East and Africa.
Docherty will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and strategically optimising revenue across the airline’s channel partners.
She has 14 years of aviation experience, a deep commercial acumen and understanding of effective people management.
Docherty joined Cathay Pacific in 2019 as Cargo Manager and has held several key senior aviation roles prior to joining the airline, including in the UK and South Africa.
Accor appoints hospitality security leader
Hospitality security specialist, Cronin Cherry, has recently been appointed Director of Security for Accor in sub-Saharan Africa, overseeing multiple properties, including the newly launched Pullman Cape Town.
Cherry has over 30 years of experience in the safety and security sector with some of South Africa’s leading five-star hotels and resorts. He will ensure that Accor’s properties maintain the highest security and safety standards to keep guests and associates safe.
His career in hospitality began at Sun International, where he worked as a security manager at The Palace of the Lost City at Sun City. He later moved to the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel and then to the Table Bay Hotel, where he ran the security team for 15 years, most recently the Westin Cape Town for Marriott International.
Cherry will be based at The Pullman Cape Town but will be responsible for the comprehensive overview of security across Accor’s regional properties.
