Agulhas National Park, in the Western Cape, has introduced a 40-seater bus to improve access to conservation education for local schools and community groups. The initiative, funded by South African National Parks (SANParks) Corporate Social Investment, aims to remove transport barriers and promote environmental awareness among communities surrounding the park.

The launch event, at the Struisbaai Skills Centre, included SANParks officials, municipal leaders, educators, youth representatives and other local stakeholders. Reinforcing SANParks’ commitment to inclusive conservation efforts, the bus will allow more community members to visit Agulhas National Park for educational and cultural experiences.

Agulhas National Park, known for its unique biodiversity and cultural heritage, plays a key role in tourism and environmental education in the Cape region. The introduction of the bus aligns with SANParks’ broader socio-economic transformation initiatives, focusing on sustainability and conservation awareness in historically disadvantaged communities.

Through this initiative, local children and other community members will gain first-hand experience of conservation practices, environmental sustainability and the importance of preserving natural heritage.
