Ivory Lodge in Lion Sands Game Reserve is set to reopen on September 22 following a significant redevelopment. The project, led by Marneweck Swart Architects, Sarah Ord Interiors and Tim Steyn Landscaping, will see the main lodge and the Fish Eagle Residence upgraded with enhanced design elements and new guest facilities.
The redesign prioritises a seamless connection between guests and the natural surroundings with double-volume spaces, expansive glass windows and enhanced riverfront areas overlooking the Sabie River.
Key upgrades at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge include:
- A new wine room and deli, botanical house reception, safari lounge, artist residence, fire deck and open-air bathroom.
- Soft refurbishment of all suites to ensure a refreshed and contemporary guest experience.
Enhancements to the Fish Eagle Residence include:
- An additional third en-suite bedroom.
- Expanded river-viewing and fire decks.
- Enhanced arrival platform.
- A new wine room and a back-of-house kitchen for elevated private dining experiences.
The lodge rebuild holds particular significance for the More family and the Ivory Project team following the loss of Britt More just before the 2016 renovation’s completion and the fire in December 2024 that destroyed much of the property.
“This transformation is more than just a rebuild; it is an evolution of the Ivory Lodge experience,” says Robert More, Custodian and CEO. “It stands as a testament to our team’s dedication, resilience and passion. And I know Britt would love every bit of it.”
