In celebration of Arbour day on Friday, April 26, the team from aha Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge invited learners and teachers from the local school, Maologane Primary, to participate in some tree planting.
Fifteen learners and five teachers came along to celebrate the special occasion, including school principal, Mr Mashasha. The learners and the aha Shepherd’s Tree team planted a variety of trees around the Lodge’s beautiful property in support of the global Arbour Day environmental initiative, geared towards a sustainable future.
Tafadzwa Manyowa, Shepherd’s Tree’s General Manager, challenged everyone present to mark every important celebration with the planting of a tree, suggesting that our world would be greatly enriched if birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and more were celebrated with trees as our gifts to the environment.
And, in keeping with the spirit of giving back, Shepherd’s Tree donated R10 000-worth of much-needed books and stationery to Maologane Primary School. Learners and teachers were also given a two-hour complimentary educational game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park.
Among the trees planted was a Shepherd’s Tree (Boscia Albitrunca) – Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge’s namesake.
