The town of Cuito Cuanavale in Angola is hoping to attract tourists in the future as it celebrates 32 years since the battle of the same name.
A memorial to the battle is under construction, says Governor of Cuando Cubango, Júlio Bessa, highlighting that there are significant tourism opportunities with the rehabilitation of National Road 140, which links Caiundo and Katuitui counties, giving access to the border with Namibia and other southern African countries.
Other plans in the pipeline include the construction of a three-star hotel. "There is a need to make a master plan for the development of the municipality to address several tourism infrastructure challenges in the town," said Bessa.
