The Board of Airline Representatives of South Africa (Barsa) has called on industry stakeholders and government departments to intensify their efforts toward the digitisation of vaccination certificates on a standardised and harmonised basis.
To this end, Barsa has held discussions with various stakeholders, including the SA Department of Transport and the Director of Civil Aviation.
CEO of Barsa, Zuks Ramasia, said in a release: “A digital health certificate will be a significant step forward to facilitate the free and safe movement of travellers between South Africa and the world. Additionally, it would considerably reduce the administrative and financial implications associated with travel and therefore boost South Africa’s position as a favourable global destination.”
Barsa represents the interests of its international member airlines and provides a single voice on policy and other matters to government and other stakeholders in transport, business and tourism.
