Kenyan hotel group, Hillpark Hotels, has unveiled its new hotel, Hillpark Amare Resort at Tiwi in the south coast.
Hillpark Hotels invested $2 million in building the hotel, which has three honeymoon suites and 10 luxury rooms all overlooking the Indian Ocean. Facilities include a restaurant, a bar, a gym and a swimming pool.
According to Hillpark Hotels GM, Jeananne Wanjui, the hotel was built mainly to cater for weddings and honeymooners. Wanjui says wedding guests could also be accommodated at nearby sister hotel, HillPark Hotel Tiwi Beach, which, she said, had 23 self-catering cottages, 16 hotel rooms, conference rooms and team-building facilities.
She said the hotel targeted both local and international tourists, adding that the hotel group would market the facility in overseas markets to attract honeymooners and leisure enthusiasts.
“It took us two years to construct the hotel as we wanted to come up with a product that will satisfy the needs of our international clientele,” she said.
Kenyan Tourism Minister, Najib Balala, praised Hillpark Hotels for building a modern facility to serve tourists who come to the country either to tie the knot or for honeymoons.
Balala called on tourism investors to come up with new products for them to attract more international guests.
“I am pleased that Kenyan investors are building new hotels of international standards which will give visitors value for their money,” he said.
Balala spoke when he officially opened Hillpark Amare Resort at Tiwi in Kwale last week, where he said the Kenyan government was working hard to help the tourism sector recover.
The hotel group also owns Hillpark Hotel in Nairobi.
