Ethiopian Airlines will become the first African airline to receive the A350-1000 aircraft after it upsized four of its A350-900 aircraft on order to the larger A350-1000.
The airline originally ordered 22 A350-900s, 16 of which have already been delivered. With the A350-1000 upsizing, the remaining order consists of four A350-1000s and two A350-900s.
The A350-1000 is set to increase capacity on Ethiopian Airlines by 75 seats, with 30 seats in business class and 388 in economy.
The airline expects to use it on long-haul flights to Europe, Asia and North America in 2024.
Bulawayo flights on the cards?
Meanwhile, without revealing details, Ethiopian Airlines tweeted that it would launch flights to Bulawayo on October 30.
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second-biggest city, will be the airline’s third destination in the country, after Harare and Victoria Falls.
Bulawayo is a gateway to Matobo National Park and an ideal staging point for Hwange National Park and Vic Falls.
