Arrivals to South Africa from overseas increased by 8% in August compared with the previous month, as confidence in the destination steadily started to increase following the dropping of COVID regulations.
According to Stats SA’s latest Tourism and Migration Stats, a total of 132 757 visitors arrived in the country from abroad, with increases driven by further recovery from key European source markets. Most notably, the UK source market continued its strong upward trajectory, rising from 18 967 arrivals in July, to more than 23 000 in August.
Total overseas arrivals are 62% of what they were in August 2019.
