Sun International CEO steps down
Sun International has announced that Anthony Leeming will officially step down as CEO on July 1 after a 26-year tenure. However, Leeming will remain with Sun International until the end of December to ensure a seamless transition.
Leeming, who has led the group since 2017, is set to pursue personal opportunities outside the company.
He joined Sun International in 1999 as Group Finance Manager before being appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2013.
Bengtsson appointed new Sun International CEO
Sun International’s board has appointed Ulrik Bengtsson as its new CEO, effective July 1 or earlier, pending his work permit approval.
Bengtsson, a Swedish national, brings nearly two decades of executive experience in gaming, betting, broadcasting and telecoms.
He previously served as Group CEO of UK-based gaming company William Hill where he led a successful turnaround before overseeing its sale to Caesars Entertainment.
He has a BCom degree from Dalhousie University in Canada and has served as Chairman of Hostelworld, Raketech and Game Nation. He will step down from these roles while he prepares to relocate to South Africa.
Samara appoints brand specialist
Samara Karoo Reserve has announced the appointment of Russel Binks as Brand Alchemist.
In this role, Binks will focus on refining Samara’s brand identity and enhancing guest experiences, contributing to the reserve’s vision for sustainable tourism in the Great Karoo. His expertise in brand strategy, business growth and guest experience development aligns with Samara’s mission to offer an exclusive safari experience while supporting biodiversity restoration.

Two new Africa consultants for Far & Wild Travel
London-based Far & Wild Travel has welcomed two new Junior Africa Sales Consultants to its team, Ottilie Dick and Tamara Jack.
Dick, a business enterprise graduate, is passionate about travel, particularly in Africa. She said: “It’s inspiring to work for a company that values sustainability and to help clients create unforgettable experiences. I’m excited for my upcoming work trip to Tanzania.”
Jack, born and raised in Kenya, combines her background in business management and geography with her love for Africa. She recently visited St Helena, on a familiarisation trip hosted by St Helena Tourism, where she swam with whale sharks and met Jonathan the giant tortoise – the world’s oldest land mammal.
