After a week in which agents and passengers alike have torn out their hair with frustration at Mango’s announcement that it will cease flying tomorrow (May 1), Mango’s head of sales, Koos Mhlongo, sent out a communication to the airline’s agent partners this afternoon (April 30) saying the low cost carrier will continue with services from tomorrow (Saturday, May 1) onwards.
The email from Mhlongo reads:
“Dear partners. This is just to confirm that Mango is continuing with its services tomorrow onwards. A formal notification will be out soon. On behalf of Mango, I would like to profusely apologise for inconvenience caused. It has been a challenging and frustrating week…”
The email doesn’t mention Zanzibar flights specifically, but an anonymous industry source told Tourism Update that it is likely that Zanzibar flights will resume around mid-May.
Another source said that that the resumption of flights would initially be for two weeks only, and it is likely that the schedule will be pruned down to fewer flights on all routes.
