New United States security measures are in effect for all flights entering the US.
Those travelling are advised to leave sufficient time to clear screening as travellers may encounter some scrutiny with regard to electrical devices and may be required to undergo an interview procedure by airline staff.
Travellers are urged to be co-operative and to remove all electronics larger than a mobile phone from their carry-on bags and place them in the bin provided in the way that it has always been done, as this will help reduce delays.
Some airlines are urging travellers to be at the airport at least three hours ahead of their US bound flight.
Travellers flying back to the USA will require extra time at their airport of departure.
“TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has enhanced its security procedures to stay ahead of evolving threats,” said TSA Federal Security Director, Jerry Henderson. “TSA is committed to raising the baseline for aviation security and we appreciate the cooperation of the travelling public in this endeavour.”
