The de-luxe Vineyard Hotel and Spa in Newlands has opened a new wing of 41 rooms, four of these being especially designed for guests in wheelchairs or with special needs.
Hotel gm, Roy Davies, says the new courtyard luxury rooms and bathrooms have plenty of room for easy movement and ablutions. The rooms also have wooden floors to enable effortless movement and some have easily accessible balconies from where guests can view the courtyard gardens. “The entire hotel is wheelchair friendly,” he says, “and there is no need for all-terrain wheelchairs. Wherever there are steps, there are also alternative, easier routes for guests in wheelchairs.”
The new wing also comprises 32 de-luxe rooms; two sets of interleading courtyard de-luxe rooms for families; and the Kitty Suite – with views of Rhodes Memorial, the University of Cape Town and Devil’s Peak – in honour of the hotel’s co-owner Kitty Petousis. A sky bridge will soon link the new wing to the hotel, replete with a rooftop and water-wise garden.
In total, the Vineyard Hotel and Spa now has 207 rooms and suites and 85 new parking bays for guests.
