Tourism Update celebrated alongside all South Africans when the local Netflix documentary, ‘My Octopus Teacher’, won an Oscar this week.
Aside from countless other awards, the film also received a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Best Documentary award earlier this month.
The beautiful film, documents a year spent by filmmaker, Craig Foster, forging a relationship with a curious octopus in a South African kelp forest in False Bay near Simon’s Town.
We were thrilled to see a photo of a giant billboard depicting the win in Los Angeles. The award-winning film is sure to generate increased interest in South Africa as a tourism destination, and Cape Town’s False Bay in particular.
