Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is planning to build a hotel in the Chobe Park Old Game Scout Camp, Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Tshekedi Khama, recently told a local radio station.
According to Khama, the hotel will have a conference centre among other facilities. The Minister did not, however, provide details on the timelines for when the construction is expected to kick-off.
Chobe National Park covers approximately 11 700sqkm, encompassing floodplains, swamps and woodland. The Chobe River forms its northern boundary in the north-eastern corner of Botswana.
BTO is a parastatal whose mandate is to market Botswana's tourist product, promote investment in the tourism sector as well as to grade and classify accommodation facilities.
