More than 45 years after it first opened its doors in 1972, Club Med La Pointe aux Canonniers will reopen on November 10 after a more than R700 million (€39 million) refurbishment.
The resort closed for four months during construction and will return to the market with a 108-room increase in capacity, bringing the total to 394 rooms, consisting of 833 beds.
The 64 existing rooms were also refurbished and a number of new areas were built, including a ‘Zen zone’ for adults, an infinity oceanfront pool, a Lazuli bar, a new spa, a ‘calm beach’ family zone, and a family pool that offers water games.
Bookings are open and have already shown growth as a result of the refurbishment. Olivier Hannaert, MD Club Med South Africa, told Tourism Update: “Our bookings have already increased by 33% worldwide, when compared with November last year.”
