Aiming to support the conservation and development of Avis Dam in Windhoek, the Namibian offices of Gondwana Collection, Greenspace and PSG Wealth have formalised a partnership agreement. In terms of a newly signed memorandum of understanding, the organisations will improve the site’s environmental sustainability, visitor experience and community engagement.
The initiative focuses on preserving Avis Dam as a recreational and educational space while reinforcing its role as an urban conservation area. Planned upgrades include improving trails with clear route markings, installing educational information panels and increasing digital engagement through Avis Dam forums and a new mobile app. The app will provide updates on activities, trails and events while simplifying entrance fee payments.
A key component of the project is the development of a modern environmental information centre at the main entrance. This facility will serve as a resource for visitors, offering insights into the dam’s biodiversity and conservation efforts.
Greenspace Namibia, the leaseholder operating on behalf of the City of Windhoek, will oversee daily operations, maintenance and the long-term implementation of the master plan. Gondwana Collection Namibia and PSG Wealth Namibia will provide financial and strategic support to ensure the long-term success of the initiative.
