Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) has reopened Newlands Forest, including the Rhodes Memorial and Devil’s Peak footpaths, following temporary closure due to a fire earlier this week. The Newlands contour path remains closed between Round Table and the Newlands path due to safety concerns.
TMNP has warned visitors to exercise caution in burnt areas where loose and falling rocks may pose a risk.
In addition, all trails along Red Hill have reopened although trail and route markers were damaged by the fire. TMNP will soon begin rehabilitation efforts including footpath maintenance, soil erosion monitoring and boardwalk and signage repairs.
