A slight majority of the 53 WTM Africa exhibitors who responded to our latest poll have said that the quality of buyers attending the show was at the level they had hoped for. Suppliers had packed schedules throughout the week and 38% of poll respondents said the buyers they had met with were of a high quality.
However, a significant proportion (32%) of the polled exhibitors said they were still unsure of the buyer quality, while 30% said that the quality of buyers was below what they expected.
What is standing in the way of open skies?
Substantial roadblocks still stand in the way of achieving the long-awaited implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM). Aviation experts have said that, until these issues are effectively addressed, airlines will not be able to achieve the required load factors to make their routes financially viable, rendering the numerous benefits of open skies irrelevant.
