Tatasberg, in the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, has closed indefinitely due to a fire nearby.

The fire broke out at the field guide’s living quarters on Saturday morning, April 8, just after the last guests left the area. The water supply and solar power system were affected, hence the subsequent closure of the camp.

Hospitality Manager, Hendrik Prins, said an investigation would be conducted to establish the exact cause of the fire.

Guests who are booked to stay at the camp in the near future have been informed and contingency plans are in place to accommodate them elsewhere in the park should they be willing to be transferred.
